John L. Black, 89, of Butler, passed away, Monday January 13, 2025, at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 16, 1935 in Allegheny County, a son of the late Archibald “Archie” Black and Mary (Kelly) Black.
John was a self employed carpenter for 30 years and also enjoyed farming. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his 3 sons: Keith J. (Vangie) Black of Briny Breezes, FL; Lawrence R. (Pat) Black of Pinckney, MI; Randolph L. (Rhonda, his favorite daughter-in-law) Black of Butler.
6 grandchildren: Nicole (Nick), Eric, Roman (Natalie), Kate, Makenzie and Kelly.
Numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet F. (Graham) Black, whom he married February 4, 1961, she passed away February 3, 2015; also 8 sisters and 2 brothers.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, at 10:00 am, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, village of North Oakland. Everyone is asked to please meet at Church Friday morning for Mass. Interment to be in St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery.
