John L. Gerwig Sr., 86, of Harmony, peacefully passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at home. He was born in Ellwood City on January 17, 1937 to the late Charles and Mary (Cooper) Gerwig. John graduated from Evans City High School and then went on to be a truck driver and diesel mechanic until he retired in 2004. John was known for being a loving and great husband and father, hardworking, with a great sense of humor. He was in the Country Campers Group, also active in Troop 360 Boy Scouts, and attended Burry’s Church for over 62 years. John was the beloved husband of Judy (Allmann) Gerwig since their marriage on August 18, 1962; father of John (Cindy) Gerwig Jr., Chuck (Brolene) Gerwig, Dave (Carol) Gerwig; grandfather of 9 and great grandfather of 9. He is also survived by a large and loving family. John was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Gerwig who died in Vietnam. Arrangements through SPENCER D.
