John L. Marchyshyn, 83, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 8, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia, Cabot, PA.
He was born May 24, 1935 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late W. Savanich and the late Anna Bungar Savanich. He married Karen Parr on October 5, 1963.
John worked in the Paint Shop for 20 years of service at Pullman Standard. He also worked at OK Grocery as a Warehouseman retiring after 15 years.
He was a member of Member of the St.’s Peter and Paul Ukrainian Church, Lyndora, PA. American Legion Post #778, Lyndora, PA. He enjoyed bowling, classic car shows, having breakfast with his friends and was an avid Pittsburgh Sports fan.
John had served in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class..
John is survived by his loving spouse Karen of 56 years; daughter, Jodi Marchyshyn of Cranberry Twp, PA; son, John and his wife Jackie Marchyshyn of Butler, PA; two Grandchildren, Nicholas and Julia Marchyshyn; Several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers; Stephen and Walter Savanich, and Larry Marchyshyn; three sisters, Mary Savanich, Dorothy Singer and Gaye Workman.
Friends will be received Tuesday, May 14, 2019, 11:00 am until time of service at 12:00 pm at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.
Co- celebrating will be the Very Reverend Father Paisius McGrath and Reverend Steven Neff.
Private burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
