Joseph Dillon Jr., 73, of Tionesta passed away on August 31st, 2021. He was born on October 6th, 1947. He leaves behind 5 children,15 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. He was a graduate of West Alleghany class of ’65 and he made it a point to make every class reunion. Joe was known for running Whitey’s bar for a number of years in Avella, Pa. It was a place of joy and laughter for everyone who went. He was a member of Avella Athletics for 14 years and coached little league football, wrestling and baseball. He was very proud of the years he coached and he kept nearly every group photo of the teams he coached. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and taught many of us how to hunt and shoot in our youth. He loved competing in dart and pool tournaments over the years and was one hell of a competitor. He was a coin hobbyist and often had his grandchildren looking at their change to see if we had any of value in our pockets. Till this very day some of us still have that habit of checking because of him. His wife Jean Dillon and himself retired to the family camp in Tionesta. One might have considered him a “jack of all trades.” During his retirement he helped build several camps and homes in the Tionesta area. He is survived by his mother Marge Dillon, his brother Gordon Dillon (Andrew) and sister Karen Shultz. He is greeted in heaven by his father Joseph Dillon Sr., 3 brothers John Dillon, Dennis Dillon, Glenndale Dillon and his sister Victoria Fink. He leaves a hole in his family that will never be filled. He will be greatly missed and is so very loved by so many family, friends and all who knew him. Per Joseph’s request we will not be holding funeral services. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. All arrangements made through the SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 NEW CASTLE RD, BUTLER, PA 16001, WWW.SPENCERDGEIBEL.COM.
