The first in a series of unique activities for residents in a local care facility will take place this week.
The Joy Through Dance program is a partnership between the St. Barnabas Memory Care Services, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the Pittsburgh Ballroom organization.
Skilled ballroom dancers who have been trained in dementia will be paired with Memory Care residents for dance instruction that will hopefully lead to increased mobility, aid in music recall, and foster relationships.
The first session will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday at the Kean Theatre in Gibsonia followed by weekly paired dancing sessions through a performance recital finale March 2nd.
