Joyce Agnes Black, 83, of Cabot, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 9, 2019 at her residence.
She was born May 19, 1935 in Summit Twp, Pennsylvania to the late John A. Jardin and the late Irene M. Lowry Jardin.
She graduated from Butler High School in 1954. Joyce was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where she also taught Sunday School. She was Jefferson Township Judge of Elections. Joyce started out working at Traders Music Store in Butler. She later worked at Saxonburg Bakery and at the bakery in the Friedman’s at the Great Butler Mart. Joyce was a consultant for Sarah Coventry. She enjoyed gardening and card club.
Joyce is survived by her one son, Clifford (Patricia) Black of Cabot, PA; five daughters, Cynthia (Robert) Gallagher of Cabot, PA, Catherine (Douglas) Miller of Cabot, PA, Connie (Companion – Don Smeltzer) Black of Cabot, PA, Carol Freehling of Cabot, PA, Chrisse (Duane) Keck of Cabot, PA; twelve grandchildren, Michael (Dena) Gallagher, Michelle (Ryan) Rhodes, Robertta (Eric) Williges, Stephanie (John) Barker, Jonathan (Jessica) Gallagher, Corry (Melissa) Freehling, Rebecca (Isaiah) Davenport, Ryan (Kristi) Black, David (Christa) Keck, Nicole (Rich) Messenger, Elizabeth (Josh) Rosensteel, Christopher Goldinger; nineteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie R. Black, whom she married on October 6, 1956 and who passed away on December 9, 2009; two sisters and one brother.
Friends will be received Saturday, January 12, 2019, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019, 2:00 pm at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc., 124 East North St. Butler, PA, with Reverend Dr. Alden Towberman, of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
