A senior judge from Mercer County decided Friday afternoon that Butler football is eligible for the postseason this season and next.
In a Butler County courtroom Thursday, lawyers for the school district and the PIAA argued over whether or not the PIAA had the authority to ban Butler from playing in the District 10 championship game.
Butler’s attorney Tom Breth made his case that the PIAA acted in an “arbitrary and capricious” manner, saying that Butler hasn’t violated any of the rules that result in a ban from the playoffs.
Representatives for the PIAA could choose to appeal this decision to the Commonwealth Court but the playoffs begin next weekend.
