A settlement has been reached in the case of a former Butler County employee and a judge.
According to attorneys from both parties, Court of Common Pleas Judge Thomas Doerr and former Butler County employee Crystal Starnes came to an agreement this past week.
This ends a case that stretches back to October 2017, when Starnes filed a lawsuit against Doerr arguing she was victimized by her relationship with the judge.
Doerr initially tried to have these claims dismissed on the basis of qualified immunity, but that argument was rejected by two courts.
Attorney Tom King, who represents Doerr, said “he’s looking forward to continuing to serve through the end of the year.” Doerr announced his retirement earlier this month.
Edward Olds, who is Starnes attorney, said in a statement that she has “favorably settled her case…and allows her to move on with her life.”
No terms of the resolution was revealed by either attorney.
