This month marks 50 years since Hurricane Agnes caused a significant amount of damage to many parts of the United States.
It started to form on this day in 1972 as a tropical depression near the Yucatan Peninsula. It eventually made landfall starting in Florida before ending up in Pennsylvania on June 24th.
It caused major issues in Butler, with most of the Connoquenessing Valley impacted by flooding. Pullman Standard received a significant amount of water, with levels reaching near the administration building.
Overall, the Pittsburgh region received 11 inches of rain over the three day period. 50 people died in Pennsylvania as a result of Hurricane Agnes.
