Four people were seriously injured in an overnight crash on Route 38—which was the second accident on that road in a matter of hours.
Dispatchers say the crash happened in Oakland Township around 1:45 a.m. just south of Weed Road.
State police say an SUV with four people inside went off the road and hit an embankment. The vehicle then overturned and came to rest in the northbound lane.
That’s when it was hit by an oncoming tractor trailer.
Four people were seriously injured in the accident: 20-year-old Sara Brown of Butler, 20-year-old Clayton Snow of Butler, 18-year-old Benjamin Claypoole of Emlenton, and an unnamed 13-year-old boy.
All four were flown to Pittsburgh trauma centers.
The truck driver was not injured in the crash.
A portion of Route 38 was shut down in between Mahood Road and Old State Road for hours.
