The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs meet in Super Bowl 57 Sunday evening. Kick-off is just after 6:30pm. The Eagles remain a 1-1/2 point favorite for the game.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was named the Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player last night. He previously won the award in 2018. Mahomes earned 48 of 50 first-place votes. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was the runner-up.
The last nine season MVP’s to play in the Super Bowl have failed to win the game. The last league MVP to win the Super Bowl was Kurt Warner in 1999.
Aliquippa native Darrelle Revis will be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame later this summer. Revis, who played defensive back at Pitt from 2004-06, is one of nine inductees the Hall of Fame announced Thursday night during the NFL Honors ceremony in Phoenix. Revis was elected in his first year of eligibility.
Revis is the third Aliquippa alum to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Mike Ditka was inducted in 1988 and Ty Law in 2019. He is the 10th player from Pitt in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The only universities with more players in the Hall of Fame are Notre Dame, USC and Michigan.
The other members of the 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame class are Joe Thomas, Zach Thomas, Ronde Barber, DeMarcus Ware, Joe Klecko, Ken Riley, Chuck Howley and Don Coryell.
