With broken hearts we share that on Thursday, February 6, 2025, Kara Hohn, 45, of Chicora, entered the gates of Heaven following a courageous 13 month battle with cancer.
Kara was born on February 14, 1979, in Butler to Larry and Kristen (Stewart) Stimpert. She was a 1997 graduate of Butler High School and graduated with honors with a Bachelor Degree in Business from Clarion University in December 2000. While enjoying her years as a stay-at-home mom, she started her own sewing business, “Sew Appealing”. Following these years, she proudly accepted the opportunity to continue her father’s business as a financial planner.
Some of her greatest joys were following her children’s activities, from observing the piloting of a plane, to horseback riding, to cheering at sporting events and music concerts. She was so very proud of all their accomplishments.
Kara is survived by her loving husband, Michael; three children, Benjamin, Adele, and Easton, all of Chicora; her parents, Larry and Kristen Stimpert; father and mother-in-law, Marty and Sherry Hohn; her sister Janae (Jon) McLister; brother-in law, Jared (Stephanie) Hohn; 5 nieces and 1 nephew.
Kara will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. The family wishes to thank the following for their compassionate care; UPMC doctors and staff, Butler Hospital doctors and staff, St. John’s Specialty Care, and UPMC Family Hospice. We also extend a heartfelt thank you to the many family and friends for the caring prayers, meals, cards, and loving support through this journey.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Kara’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, Butler, PA 16001, with Rev. Dr. Denny Krajacic officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Legacy Room.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you kindly consider a memorial donation in Kara’s memory to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053 or Copper Horse Crusade, C/O Julie Copper, 13258 Barrs Rd., Massillon, OH, 44647; two organizations that were near and dear to Kara and her family.
All who knew Kara are encouraged to share memories and upload photos to her unique remembrance page at www.thompson-miller.com.
