Karen E. McAfee, 70, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born October 2, 1953 in Butler, the daughter of the late Edward Lynn Fleeger and Thelma (Wise) Fleeger.
Karen graduated from Butler High School and got her nursing degree from the Butler Hospital program. She had worked at Franklin Hospital and later at a private practice. She is a member of the Unionville Evangelical Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder, a member of the Church Guild and Fellowship committee. She enjoyed going to the farm show where she won prizes for her cross stitching and her pies. She was also on the Election board for Center Township.
Surviving are her husband, Dr. Roy Donald McAfee, whom she married on November 24, 1990; two sisters, Judy Sutton and her fiancé Errol Foertsch of Butler and Joan Fleeger of Butler; four brothers, Rodney (Helen) Fleeger of West Sunbury, Eugene Fleeger of Butler, James Fleeger of Butler and Larry (Penny) Fleeger of Butler; two step children, Beth Richardson and her husband, Mike Lueders, of Texas and Jeff McAfee of North Carolina; two step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, John “Jack” Fleeger and Richard Fleeger.
Services will be held at the Unionville Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1114 Sunset Dr., Butler, on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 11 AM with Pastor Matt Kail officiating.
Private interment in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
