Karen L. Rettig, 81 of Butler, PA formerly of East Brady, PA died Friday, March 4, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in East Brady September 26, 1940 the daughter of the late James E. Hicks and the late Irene Bliss Hicks.
Most recently she was an optical receptionist for various eye doctors in the Butler area until her retirement.
Karen was a member of Saint Clare of Assisi Parish, St Joseph Catholic Church in North Oakland, Chicora, PA. and a member of the Christian Mothers and the church Choir.
She married Fred T. Rettig on June 25, 1960, who preceded her in death November 1, 1977.
She is survived by a daughter, Kesia Jones and her fiancé Gary Thompson of Slippery Rock, PA, a son, Ryan and Kathy Rettig of Fenelton, PA, a special grandson, Andrew Jones of Butler, a former son-in-law Mark and Sandy Jones of Karns City, PA, a sister, Judy Master of East Brady, PA. and several nieces and nephews and God children.
In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by a daughter, a brother, 2 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, a nephew, and an infant son and an infant daughter.
Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2022 at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, Chicora, PA. The funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday, March 7th at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, North Oakland, Chicora, PA, with Father Rick Thompson. Burial will be in Saint Eusebius Catholic Cemetery in East Brady, PA.
