Karen Lee Fowler, 72, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 12, 2021, at her residence.
She was born August 19, 1948, in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Robert Perkins and the late Jane Griffiths Perkins.
Karen was a 1966 graduate of New Castle High School and 1969 graduate of the nursing program at Butler County Memorial Hospital. She was employed as a registered nurse at Butler County Memorial Hospital from 1969-1982. In 1982 she joined VNA as a nurse, later joining VNA Hospice, where she worked until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of the Butler County Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumnae Association. Karen loved nursing and cared for her patients with diligence and good humor. She was a tireless advocate for her patients, including the family and loved ones whom she cared for at the end of their lives. An accomplished pianist, Karen cherished every opportunity to play. She also loved quilting, gardening, and listening to music. She lit up at the mention of any of her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. And her life had the steady and faithful guidance of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She attended North Main Street Church of God.
She is survived by her husband Barry Lee Fowler, whom she married on August 30, 1969; one daughter, Laura Lee (Fowler) Shandick of Butler, PA; two sons, Lonnie Lee Fowler of Nashville, TN, and Lindon Lee Fowler of Grove City, PA; eight grandchildren: Courtney, Carter, and Audrey Shandick of Butler, PA; Coyle and Miles Fowler of Nashville, TN; and Levi, Shields Lee, and Reeves Fowler of Grove City, PA; one brother, Robert Perkins of New Stanton, PA; one sister, Patty Swanson of New Castle, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Faith Lee Fowler, and Liana Lee Fowler; one niece, Lynne Bosko,; and one nephew, Gregory Bosko.
In light of current restrictions the family will be having a private viewing.
A public memorial service will be held Saturday, 2pm March 27th at Westminster Presbyterian Church 420 N. Main Street in Butler.
Burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Seneca Hills Bible Camp and Retreat Center, 276 Damascus Rd., Polk, PA 16342.
