Katheryn Yomes, 27, of Butler passed away on November 23, 2023 after a sudden illness. She was born June 10 1996 on a snowy morning in Anchorage AK to David and Rachel (Campbell) Yomes. This began her journey as a military child. Katie started school at Wright Elementary in Altoona, Pa. She finished her kindergarten year at Gelnhausen Elementary in Gelnhausen, Germany. Next stop was Roswell, NM where she attended Del Norte Elementary and Berrendo Middle School. Schofield Barracks in Wahiawa, HI was the next stop. She continued her education at Wheeler Middle School. Wahiawa High School was where she met the love of her life Corey Mantz. Our time in paradise was up, so the Army decided Fort Polk LA (Louisiana not California) would be a great place for our next stop. Katie did a little time at Leesville High School in LA, but she graduated from Mt Vernon High School in Alexandria, VA. Finally Katie found stability in education when she attended Mercyhurst University where she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in chemistry and a physics minor. She joined the family in Butler, Pa after graduation where she was employed by AGR as a Quality Assurance Technician.
Katie was precious to us all, and our hearts will never fully mend. Her generosity and helpfulness knew no end. She enjoyed video games, board games, drawing, crafting, and making intricate personalized cards for her family. She could teach herself to play different songs on the cello and keyboard. She loved spending time with her family. She was finally reunited with the love of her life when Corey Mantz decided to join her in Butler.
Katie was the best big sister to Olivia, Gavin, Eva, and Morgan. She will be missed by many aunts and uncles and a multitude of cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Eugene and Claudia Campbell of Mill Village, Pa, Patrick and Diane Yomes of Tacoma, WA, and uncle Larry Campbell of Waterford PA.
Katie held onto life long enough to share the gift of life by donating her organs.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 5-7 PM in the SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 NEW CASTLE RD. BUTLER, PA 16001, WWW.SPENCERDGEIBEL.COM. A funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home
