Kathryn A. Best, 74, of Butler, passed away Tuesday evening, February 13, 2024, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She was born August 25, 1949 in Butler, a daughter of the late Walter Schnitski and Josephine (Horvatic) Schnitski.
Kathryn had been retired from the Butler VA Medical Center. She was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Kathryn was an inspiring soul, always there for all who came to her. Her home was open to everyone, and her hospitality made them feel important. Kathryn loved to cook and bake and enjoyed all holiday gatherings. She was a compassionate, family-oriented woman and one of the most beautiful souls one could ever meet.
She is survived by her companion, Donald Green.
Her daughter, KellyJo (Denny) Altmire.
1 stepdaughter, Rita Matis.
Grandchildren: Thomas Hayden, Evan (Ashleigh) Hayden, Emily Hayden, Jared (Erin) Matis, Katelyn Burkert and Jenna (Andrew) Swindlehurst.
Great grandchildren: Nora, Clayton, Elora, Elias, Trey and Macey.
Her sister, Donna Schnitski.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson J. Best and her sister, Sandra Flack.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, at 11:00 am, at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 North McKean Street, Butler. Interment to follow in Butler County Memorial Park. Arrangements by the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler.
