The Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will meet in Super Bowl 55 on February 7th. Kansas City defeated the Buffalo Bills 38-24 to win the AFC Championship last night. Patrick Mahomes returned from a concussion to lead the Chiefs with 325 yards and three touchdowns. Travis Kelce had 13 catches for 118 yards and two scores. Tyreek Hill had nine catches for 172 yards.
Tampa Bay defeated top-seeded Green Bay 31-26 to win the NFC title. The Bucs became the first team in more than a decade to win all of their playoff games on the road. They now become the first team in history to play in the Super Bowl in their home stadium.
The victory also sends quarterback Tom Brady to his 10th NFL championship game.
The NFL announced that 7,500 health-care workers vaccinated for the coronavirus will be given free tickets to next month’s Super Bowl being hosted in Tampa, Florida. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell also said attendance at the February 7th game will be limited to those workers and about 14,500 other fans.
