Brad Keselowski won “The Clash” at Daytona International Speedway Sunday afternoon. The race marks the opening of the Daytona Speedweeks. Keselowski led his teammate Joey Logano across the finish line. Kurt Busch, Ryan Blaney and Austin Dillon completed the top five.
Hendrick Motorsports collected its fourth straight Daytona 500 pole on Sunday when Alex Bowman steered the Number-88 Chevrolet to the top of the speed chart as the front row for next weekend’s race was locked in. Bowman took over the car following Dale Earnhardt, Jr’s retirement. Denny Hamlin will join him on the outside of the front row. Both will lead their respective races for the Can-Am Duel qualifying races Thursday night, which will determine the rest of the field for Sunday’s race.
The NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series opened its season in Pomona, California this weekend. Matt Hagan won the Funny Car event over world champion Robert Hight. Doug Kalitta took the Top Fuel over Tony Schumacher for his 44th career victory, and Bo Butner won the Pro Stock in the first of 24 events this year. 31-year old Brittany Force was taken to the hospital after a first-round crash, but appeared to escape serious injury.
