Kevin S. Mechling, 71, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Born March 2, 1951, in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, Kevin was the son of the late Kenneth and Natalie Mechling.
Kevin was a graduate of Kittanning High School. After graduating, he enlisted and served his country in the United States Army, receiving the National Defense Service Medal. Upon his discharge, Kevin attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Service Management. He proudly worked and retired from the VA Hospital in Butler, PA. Kevin adored anything to do with nature. He was an avid fisherman, liked hunting and had a fondness for gardening. Kevin also enjoyed blues music, Formula 1 racing, trivia at the American Legion Post # 778, and was an excellent cook.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peg” Mechling, who he married on June 20, 1992; his two children: Zachary (Ashley) Mechling and Emily (Damon) Krepinevich, both of Allison Park, PA; and two grandchildren; Mikayla and Lane.
In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his brother, Barry Mechling
His family is planning to host a gathering of family and friends to honor the life of Kevin in the coming weeks.
