–The Knoch boys basketball team earned a PIAA tournament berth following a 56-42 victory over Deer Lakes last night in Saxonburg. Jackson Bauman led the Knights with 21 points. Knoch will next play Friday, March 7th in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs. It will be the first time the Knights have made the state tournament since 2006. They are now 19-7 this season.
–The North Catholic girls won their third-place WPIAL consolation game following a 53-48 win over Elizabeth Forward. The Trojanettes are now 22-4 this season.
–The North Catholic boys face Belle Vernon tonight in the Class 4A WPIAL championship game. Tip-off is 9pm at the Petersen Events Center.
–The Mars girls travel to Montour tonight in the WPIAL Class 5A third-place consolation game. Tip-off is 7pm.
The Slippery Rock girls fell to Harbor Creek 49-40 in the District 10 Class 4A semifinals. The Rockets have already qualified for the PIAA tournament. They will face Franklin Saturday in the D10 third-place consolation game Saturday. Franklin lost to Fairview 35-13 last night in the other Class 4A semifinal.
