The Knoch girls’ volleyball team won their first WPIAL championship in program history, as they beat Montour in the Class AAA finale on Saturday 3-1.
Sarah Armahizer led the Knights with 24 kills, and Hannah Rowe added 14 kills. Both teams have qualified for the PIAA state playoffs, which will begin on Tuesday. Head Coach Diane Geist has led the program for 31 years.
In the Class AA finale, two time defending champion Freeport fell to Beaver in five sets, 3-2. Saturday’s win was Beaver’s first WPIAL Championship in their program’s history. Freeport and Beaver will both head to the PIAA playoffs.
