The Knoch School District continues to move forward with a major construction project.
At a Wednesday night meeting, representatives of the district’s design firm provided school board members with more details about options for the proposed project at the high school campus.
Municipal code requires the addition of a storm shelter at a cost that is not known at this time. The project will also include a new student entrance, science rooms, large group instruction space, new restrooms, improved auditorium lobby, and a wellness area with a track at the current location of the cafeteria and kitchen.
Knoch has just over $35 million available so alternate bids that could be considered include tech-ed space, classroom refresh, auditorium refresh, courtyard upgrade, outdoor track resurfacing, parking lot overlay paving, new entry gates, and a salt bin.
This project is expected to go out for bid in June with contracts awarded in July. Some mobilization prep work like moving utilities could be completed this summer.
