Even as staff and administrators of the Knoch School District prepare to welcome students back next week, work crews continue to make progress on the construction project at the Knoch High School campus.
According to Superintendent Dr. David Foley, even after challenges at the stadium due to a delay in laying the track of about a month, that portion of the project is “very close” to being completed. The track has been painted and the plastic removed.
Also, the sidewalk is being poured, a turnstile installed, and landscaping of the hillside has been completed. The district is considering adding more fencing and replacing a gate. Indoors, furniture is being delivered and the hallways are being cleaned.
The Knoch School board also approved several change orders at their meeting Wednesday night including nearly $500,000 in credits due to value engineering since the scope of the project was changed to stay under budget.
The first day of classes for Knoch students is this Wednesday (8/21). Work on the project is expected to continue in areas that are walled off from portions of the building used for instruction.
