Butler County saw another double digit increase in COVID deaths this past week according to the Department of Health.
There were 13 additional deaths since last Friday bringing the countywide death toll to 468.
While COVID deaths have risen significantly compared to the spring and summer months, the numbers still pale in comparison to January of this year when the county saw more than 120 deaths in one month.
Meanwhile, four more people have died locally at Butler Memorial Hospital this week as a result of serious COVID-19 symptoms.
The hospital reported one COVID-related death to the state on Tuesday.
The hospital reported three more COVID-related deaths to the state on Wednesday.
According to the Butler Health System, as of Thursday morning 53 patients were hospitalized at Butler Memorial Hospital with 11 of those in the ICU. This is the same number hospitalized compared to last Thursday with a decrease of two COVID patients in the ICU.
The age range of those 53 hospitalized locally is 22 to 95 years old.
