Lawrence R. “Larry” Furey Jr., 75, of Fenelton, passed away early Monday morning, January 17, 2022 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Lawrence was born in East Brady on February 1, 1946. He was the son of the late Lawrence R. Sr. and Katherine Musthaf Furey. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the company of his family most especially his great nephew Jacob with whom he had a special bond. He attended school in Worthington and was employed as a truck driver working for several years for Don Martin.
Larry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rachel E. Carver Furey; his siblings: Carol Osche, Sandra Lewis and her husband David, and William A. “Bill” Furey and his wife Theresa, all of Fenelton; his nieces and nephews: Jennifer Jones and her husband Paul, Cathy Furey, Cindy Black and her husband Richard, Brenda Black and her husband Gary, Paul Furey and his wife Amy, and Patty Jo Brown all of Fenelton, William Furey Jr. and his wife Nicole of Georgetown, and Don Boyle Jr. of Fenelton, Don Furey of San Felipe, Mexico, and Ken Watterson and his wife, Britany, of Fenelton; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Furey and two brothers-in-law, Jim Burns and Dave Strang, all of Fenelton, as well as a number of other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd. Chicora from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Friday. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1pm Saturday at St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville with the Rev. Matthew McClain, church pastor, officiating.
