A local historian will lead a presentation later this week on the history of the creation of a unique local state park.
Historian and author Polly Shaw is scheduled to be at Moraine State Park Thursday to discuss and share insights of the Muddy Creek Basin area as oil and coal industries closed in the 1940s to when construction began on the park in the 1970s.
Thursday’s program will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at McDanels Launch Area Pavilion 7 on the North Shore.
Pre-registration is required by calling the park office. Social distancing and facemask guidelines will be followed.
