The Butler Public Library is continuing a series this week focusing on themes of displacement and diaspora.
The next program in the “Stories of Exile” series is called “From Old World to Butler: The Autobiography of a Jewish Immigrant” and will take place Thursday at 6 p.m.
The program tells the story of Joseph Hurwitz who wrote a 28 page memoir in 1949 about leaving Lithuania and settling in Butler where he spent decades operating a successful scrap yard.
A full list of events and programs can be found on the library’s website.
