A local organization is offering free development and autism checkups next week.
On Monday, December 18 Lifesteps will be offering free developmental and autism checks for children birth to age five from 9 a.m. to noon at their Stirling Village location. A screening takes about 30 minutes and the results are discussed immediately with parents/guardians.
Screening checks use games and activities to determine a child’s current level of development.
Autumn Simmons is the senior director of family services at Lifesteps, she views catching developmental delays early as a way to provide need care to children.
“We can connect them to services of early intervention quickly so they can work and hone in on the skills. We can also connect them to providers that can help,” Simmons said.
An appointment is required for online or in person screenings, you can schedule one by calling Lifesteps at 724-283-1010 or 1800-225-2010.
