Lillian “Lil” Bachman, 96, of Butler passed away on March 26, 2025 as the result of an auto accident.
Born November 11, 1928 in Butler, she was the daughter of William C. Wise and Mildred Knause Wise.
Lil went to a one room school and graduated from Butler High School in 1945. She worked as a Supervisor for Du-Co Ceramics retiring after 35 years of service. She was an active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Saxonburg for over 65 years and was past president of the L.C.W, taught Sunday School, was a member of the Altar Guild, belonged to the sewing group and volunteered with other activities at the church.
Lil loved to volunteer. She was known the “Money Lady”, being Treasurer of many organizations in the community. She was a member of the Saxonburg American Legion Auxillary for over 70 years, the Saxonburg Womans’ Club for 50 years, the Saxonburg Golden Agers, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Jefferson Grange and the Friends of the Saxonburg Library.
Over the years, she loved to bowl and play cards, belonging to many card clubs. She loved to travel and has been to most of the states, including Alaska and Hawaii.
Surviving are her son, Robert (Lisa) Bachman of Durham, NC, her brother, Richard Wise, Sr. of Butler, four sisters, Carolyn (Larry) Paulsen of Butler, Shirley (Grant) Rodgers of Butler, Donna Hall of Sarver and Bonnie Andring of Butler, 4 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and her long-time companion Owen “Dutch” Stepp.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herbert L. Bachman, on December 27, 1983, one son, Gary Bachman, three brothers, George Wise, Brother, James Wise, Brother and Carl “Peck” Wise,one granddaughter, Tiffany Bachman and her long-time dear friend Tom Pieper.
Friends will be received on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 1-5 pm at Fox Funeral Home, Inc., Saxonburg, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, 10:00 am at the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Saxonburg, with Jeannine Sanford officiating.
Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
