Linda D. Sheakley, 73, of Petrolia, went to be with the Lord late Friday morning, August 5, 2022 in the comfort of her home while in the company of her loving family.
Linda was born in Butler on December 4, 1948. She was the daughter of the late Robert G. and Eleanor C. McGarvey Smith. She was a 1966 graduate of Karns City Area High School. Linda was a devoted Christian. In her earlier years, she had been an active member of the former St. Johns Reformed Church in Chicora; she later became an active member of the Chicora Alliance Church. Linda enjoyed singing in the church choirs and participating in various church activities. Linda had been a member of TOPS Support Group, where she made lasting friendships. Linda had been a devoted caregiver to her family, and was fond of animals.
She is survived by her husband, Rodney L. Sheakley, whom she married at St. Johns Reformed Church in Chicora on February 17, 1968. Also surviving is a son, Matthew P. Sheakley and his wife, Lorri of Harrisville; a daughter, Shannon S. Thorhauer and her husband, Greg, of Karns City; three grandchildren, Jesse Sheakley, and Cole and Emily Thorhauer; two brothers, Michael Smith and his wife, Darla, of Chicora, Neil Smith, of Bruin; a sister, Pamela Emery and her husband, John, of Bruin; a sister-in-law, Jean Smith, of Chicora, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gale Smith, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Olyn and Connie Sheakley.
