A local business recently organized an effort by residents to support law enforcement departments in a couple southern Butler County communities.
Students at Makowski’s Martial Arts and Fitness, LLC, located on Route 228 near Saxonburg, collected over $4,000 during an event called “Kick-a-thon for Cops and K-9s”.
The students gained sponsors who pledged to donate based on the number of kicks done at the event with donations made to the local non-profit Community One Public Safety Training Initiative for training and equipment needs.
A check for $2,000 from the event was presented to Middlesex Township Police to cover the cost of two annually required K-9 officer trainings held in North Carolina.
