A group of local students will be participating in an event this weekend that focuses on thoughtful and fair responses to complex situations.
The fourth annual Slippery Rock University Ethics Bowl is planned from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 14 on the Smith Student Center.
Teams of three to five students will be given response and rebuttal periods on four predetermined case studies in areas such as politics, metal health or the environment. A panel of judges will score for meaningful contributions to the conversation, as well as effective civil discourse skills.
While the bowl is structured like a debate, the ultimate goal is not to determine who is right or wrong, Instead, teams will seek points of unity over common objectives.
