Congressman Mike Kelly is again introducing a bipartisan bill that would help families cover the cost of playing youth sports.
The Republican from Butler recently announced that the bill, known as the PHIT Act, has received support from Major League Baseball as well as the NFL, NBA, and NHL.
The bill would allow families to use a portion of money saved in pre-tax health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts for qualified sports and fitness expenses like gym memberships, fitness equipment, and youth sports league fees.
Kelly says this proposal would eliminate financial barriers that can make it hard for kids from low-income families to participate in youth sports.
