A local couple is hosting an event this weekend that they hope will connect those who have been affected by breast cancer.
Heather Adams came home one day to find that her fiancée, Shawn Coddington, had painted a 20-foot pink breast cancer ribbon in their yard.
Adams has been fighting breast cancer for three years and she wants to share the message of hope with others in the community.
“We’re opening up our yard on this Saturday and Sunday for people to come and get their picture taken with the cancer ribbon,” Adams said. “We’ve also been able to get enough donations so we can give away 100 chemotherapy bags to cancer patients.”
Adams says it’s important for people who are in this fight against breast cancer to know there are others that are with them.
“We want to invite people out here so they can connect with each so they know that they’re not fighting it alone,” Adams said.
There will be raffles and t-shirt sales to help benefit a chemotherapy bag giveaway around Christmastime.
The yard will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday; and all CDC COVID guidelines will be followed. The home is in the Mount Chestnut area at 7248 Ridge Road.
