The number of local COVID cases continues to remain high week-over-week, but the trends are starting to show a slowdown of spread.
There were 562 new cases for the county this week, which is down about 30 compared to last week. However, this is a departure from peak number of more than 800 cases per week during this latest surge.
There were still nine additional deaths reported for the county over the past seven days, bringing the county’s death toll to 492.
Local hospitalizations have also remained high, but relatively stable. As of yesterday morning, Butler Memorial Hospital was treating 45 patients for the coronavirus, with eight in the ICU. The hospital also reported two additional deaths to the DOH since Monday.
Statewide hospitalizations are just shy of 3,000, essentially the same number as last week.
