Butler Memorial Hospital will become a teaching hospital for the first time in its 125 year history.
Butler Health System is developing a Medical Residency Training Program and expects to accept its first class of residents in July of 2023.
Center Township resident Dr. Michael Fiorina has been chosen to lead the program’s creation as Vice President of Medical Education.
“This is an amazing chance to bring physicians into this community and build onto an already excellent health care system,” Dr. Fiorina said. “We have the opportunity to create a program that will sustain the well-being of this community for generations to come. I am humbled and incredibly excited for the future.”
In addition to formal medical training, BHS administrators will encourage resident physicians to reach out into the community to educate local people about how to keep healthy.
