A local female veteran has received statewide recognition in connection with Women’s History Month.
The Pennsylvania Commission for Women honored 21 female veterans from across the state earlier this week representing every branch of the armed services.
Butler County native Ashley Stough was one of those recognized. She was commissioned in the United States Air Force in 2016 and has received 17 medals and awards including the Air Medal and the Aerial Achievement Medal.
The Commission received close to 150 nominations this year.
Stough is the third woman in her family to serve.
