Gas prices are continuing to slowly decrease both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by a nickel to reach $3.59 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by two cents over the same period of time to settle at $3.60. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.46, while the most expensive is in Mercer at $3.78.
The average national gas price dropped by a penny over the past week to reach $3.24. This is 18 cents less than a month ago and 17 cents less than one year ago. Although the price of oil increased slightly last week due to market concerns about OPEC maintaining production reduction into next year, demand for gas continues to drop resulting in mostly stable gas prices.
