Gas prices have stayed the same locally but continued to drop across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, remained even at $3.69 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by a nickel over the same period of time to reach $3.68. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Sharon at $3.55, while the most expensive is $3.80 in Jeannette.
The average national gas price fell by a penny over the past week to reach $3.43 which is four cents more per gallon than a month ago but 80 cents less than one year ago.
Demand for gas and the cost of oil both increased but prices did not jump due to ongoing fears of a recession.
