Several local high school basketball teams took to the court on Saturday to begin the 2018 WPIAL Playoffs.
In 6-A boys’ basketball, the Butler Golden Tornado fell to the Latrobe Wildcats 73-66. Ethan Morton led the Tornado with 20 points. With the loss, Butler finishes the season with an overall record of 18-5. In other 6-A boys’ action, Seneca Valley fell to Cannon-McMillan 57-52, and Pine-Richland beat Bethel Park 66-62.
The Knoch girls’ basketball team fell to Belle Veron 54-45 on Saturday in class 4-A action. Also in 4-A girls’ action, Freeprot fell to Elizabeth Forward 45-33. In class 5-A, the Mars girls’ team beat Uniontown 54-33.
The Butler Golden Tornado girls’ basketball team will play their first round playoff game this Tuesday. You can catch all of Tuesday’s action on WBUT 1050AM with Tyler Friel.
