In local high school basketball from Saturday:
The Knoch girls’ team defeated Highlands 56-48. With the win, the Knights capture their first section championship since 1972. Nina Shaw led Knoch with 15 points (including ten consecutive free throws), and Hattie McGraw finished with 14 points. The Knights’ overall record currently stands at 17-2 and 11-0 in section play.
The Knoch boys’ team fell to North Catholic 73-51. Ryan Lang led the Knights with 20 points.
