In local high school sports from Saturday:
The Mars girls’ soccer team defeated Plum in the WPIAL 3A championship, the final 1-0. Mars took a 38-game winning streak into Saturday’s game, as well as a regular season record of 15-0. Plum was 16-0 this year. The Planets were the defending WPIAL champions and were playing for the district championship for the fourth time in as many years.
The North Catholic girls’ soccer team defeated Avonworth in the WPIAL 2A championship, the final 1-0.
The Seneca Valley boys’ soccer team defeated Peters Township in the WPIAL 4A championship, winning by a final of 4-3. The Raiders took a ten game winning streak into Saturday’s contest, and were 13-1-1 going into the game.
The Slippery Rock girls’ soccer team fell to Villa Maria in the District 10 2A championship on Saturday, the final 3-0. Saturday’s contest was held at Slippery Rock High School.
