In local high school sports from Saturday:
The Seneca Valley boys’ soccer team defeated Lower Merion in the PIAA Class 4A state championship, the final 6-0.
The Freeport girls’ volleyball team defeated York Catholic in the PIAA Class 2A state championship by sweeping the first three sets.
The North Catholic girls’ volleyball team fell to Pope John Paul II in the PIAA Class 3A state championship, three sets to two. North Catholic was the reining Class 2A state champion.
The North Allegheny girls’ volleyball team defeated Garnet Valley in the PIAA Class 4A state championship, three sets to zero. North Allegheny has now won six consecutive Class 4A state championships.
The Pine Richland football team defeated Upper St. Clair in the WPIAL Class 5A district championship, the final 34-3.
The North Allegheny football team defeated Central Catholic in the WPIAL Class 6A district championship, the final 35-21.
