Anyone interested in learning more about the creation of McConnells Mill State Park are invited to the 3MJC meeting this week in Slippery Rock.
On Wednesday (June 19th), the Moraine, McConnells Mill, and Jennings Commission will host local historian Bill May at their monthly meeting at the Jennings Environmental Education Center on Prospect Road.
May will present the fascinating and heartwarming story of the creation of the park through the friendship of Civil War Captain Thomas McConnell and Mose Wharton, a freed slave from North Carolina.
Wednesday’s meeting will begin at 7pm.
