It’s almost that time of the year to turn on the air conditioner and HVAC experts are recommending taking some steps to make sure it’s ready to go.
There are some simple tips before having to call someone in to work on the air conditioner.
- Check for debris near unit
- Replace the air filter
- Turn on the air conditioner before it gets hot outside to avoid needing repairs when it’s already hot
Matt Cypher from Cunningham-Shanor says that if everyone turns it on at the same time it can lead to delays to service.
“A lot of times, no one wants to run it until its 80 degrees out. But, if 10,000 people turn it on at the same time, so the amount of breakages or breakdowns can delay when crews can look at it,” Cypher said.
Cypher said the best temperatures to test at is between 65 to 75 degrees.
