A Butler County judge is once again just a step away from filling a vacancy on the federal court bench.
The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee approved the nomination of Marilyn Jean Horan Thursday, who has been a Butler County Common Pleas Court judge for over 20 years.
President Trump nominated Horan in December to serve on the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. This comes after President Obama nominated Horan back in 2015 to the same position. The Senate Judiciary Committee also approved Horan’s nomination two years ago.
The full Senate now must approve the nomination which is where the process stalled previously.
