Before pausing for the Christmas holiday break, a couple local lawmakers have been busy advancing legislation that would help residents with difficult situations.
House Bill 1822, sponsored by Republican State Representative Tim Bonner who represents residents in portions of Butler and Mercer Counties would amend a rule about providing relatives easier access to banks funds of a deceased person in order to cover estate expenses.
Bonner is also sponsoring House Bill 1985 that would create an exemption to the Wiretap Act permitting people to record calls from telemarketers to enforce consumer protection laws.
Republican State Representative Marci Mustello is sponsoring House Bill 2016 that would eliminate the ambiguity surrounding probate and non-probate assets when settling estates under a small estate pension.
After passing the House, these bills will next move over to the Pennsylvania Senate for consideration by appropriate committees.
