A Butler man has been charged in federal court with producing child pornography.
Thomas Romspert, 29, is accused of sexual exploitation of a minor by producing material in July, August, and September of 2020 depicting an underage victim.
If convicted, Romspert faces between 15 and 30 years in prison as well as a fine of up to $250,000. The actual sentence imposed if he is found guilty is based on the seriousness of the offense and prior criminal history.
The case was brought as part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood initiative with assistance from the Butler Area School District Police Cyber Security unit and the Butler County Sheriff.
