Local municipalities will be participating in a nationwide event this weekend to properly dispose of unwanted prescription drugs.
On Saturday, the Butler Township Police Department will participate in Prescription Drug Take-Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the entrance to the department on South Duffy Road. The Butler City Police are holding their collection during the same time at the Public Safety Building. The Cranberry Township police department will hold their collection also from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Municipal Center rear parking lot.
All forms of medication including tablets, capsules, pills, and ointments will be accepted anonymously. Township police will accept liquids but City Police will not. All identifying information should be removed from any medication that is being dropped off for disposal. Illicit substances and syringes will not be accepted by any departments.
Most departments also have drop-off drug collection boxes that are available in the police department lobby during normal business hours. There will be no fee for Saturday’s event.
